| Verleger Take2/2K Games hat für Civilization V neben der Standardversion als Basisfassung spezielle Versionen mit Zusatzinhalten angekündigt. So wird beispielsweise eine Digital Deluxe Edition als reine Download-Verkaufsfassung die zusätzliche Zivilisation Babylonien enthalten. Eine Special Edition als edle Sammlerfassung für den Einzelhandel wird zusätzliches Material wie ein Civ5-Artbook enthalten, jedoch fehlen hier zusätzliche Zivilizationen. Damit gibt es erstmals leider keine komplette Sammlerfassung mit allen Inhalten.
Der Verleger meldet weiter, dass die Direct2Drive (D2D)-Versionen als Vorbestellerbonus zwei weitere, bisher noch unbekannte Zivilisationen und ein noch unbekanntes Szenario enthalten werden. Laut Aussage des Verlegers können diese Vorbestellerboni später auch separat für jede andere Civ5-Version nachträglich dazugekauft werden. Wir erwarten, dass der Verleger wegen des großen Interesses weitere Zusatzmaterialien erstellen und anbieten wird, wahrscheinlich als DLC (Download Content) im Steam-Onlineshop.
